After Ming

So Menzies Campbell is gone. One thing I think we can be sure of is that his successor won’t repeat this summer’s disastrous flirtation with Gordon Brown.

At the time, many commentators thought Brown’s exploitation of Campbell was a strategic masterstroke.  In fact, Brown had undermined a potential coalition partner, whose successor is likely to prove much less pliable.

In hindsight, perhaps all the ingedients of the non-election debacle were present in that piece of over-clever tactics.

One response to “After Ming”

Ming may have gone, but his departure hardly adds to our political ‘choice’.
Both Huhne and Clegg went to the same posh school – Westminster – and differ only in their choice of further education – one went to Oxford, the other to Cambridge.
