DUP in on Dail deal?

Nuzhound has picked up some interesting commentary on Taoiseach Bertie Ahern’s proposal last week, that Northern Ireland MPs should be able to address Dail Eireann via a committee of the whole house.

Brian Feeney argues that Bertie has succeeded in establishing Fianna Fail’s nationalist credentials, without any danger that he might actually have to implement the idea.

Paul Colgan acutely notes that Fine Gael, Labour and the PDs have abandoned any pretence of solidarity with the SDLP over the issue.

The proposal looks dead in the water at the moment, but the Newsletter carries in interesting report on the unionist reaction which makes we wonder whether it isn’t part of some peace process choreography that the DUP are party to.
