Interesting news from the BBC:
UUP leader Sir Reg Empey says he will give serious consideration to a DUP offer of talks to maximise the unionist vote at future elections.
A letter from the DUP containing the proposal was hand-delivered to Ulster Unionist headquarters on Friday.
Sir Reg dismissed the suggestion the offer was evidence of growing warmth between the two parties.
"We haven’t had any discussions yet so I think it would be unfortunate to prejudge those discussions," he said.
"In the past we’ve had a number of these, but no arrangement ever lasted very long and the bitterness returned." (BBC)
Maybe Alex Kane was on to something.
