Irish News on collusion

The indispensible Newshound has today published two of the articles from the current Irish News series on the extent of collusion between loyalists and the security forces in the 1970s:

Collusion – Subversion in the UDR

Subversion Report no surprise

The new material from the mid-70s was based on the Justice for the Forgotten/Pat Finucane Centre visit to the National Archives which I mentioned here back in February in the context of the SAS presence in the north.

I also interviewed some of those involved for the Irish World and have now posted the article here.

There is an interesting debate on the Irish News series going on over at Slugger. Statements on the revelations have been issued by Sinn Fein and the SDLP.

Update: Slugger has now published the last two days of Irish News reports.
