Still time to sign Freedom of Information petitions

Martin Stabe reminds us that there’s only a short time left to sign the two petitions against the Government’s changes to the Freedom of Information Act, Press Gazette’s email petition and the one on the Downing Street website.

As Martin notes, the Downing Street petition site has come in for some flak lately, as a result of the massive support for the petition against vehicle tracking and road pricing. One unnamed Minister is said to have commented: "The person who came up with this must be a prat."

It seems that ministers are unhappy with this experiment in democracy, not because it has failed, but because it has been too successful. A bit like the Freedom of Information Act, in fact.
