A court in Guernsey has blocked an attempt by lawyers for Equatorial Guinea to name the financial backers of last year’s attempted coup in the West African country.
From the PA report:
In a lengthy judgment, the Court of Appeal in Guernsey ruled that full details of individuals paying money into a set of accounts on the island should not be turned over to lawyers for the oil-rich country’s President Teodoro Obiang.
President Obiang’s lawyers had argued that details of account transactions involving two companies should be released for use in a multi-million pound civil action against former SAS officer Simon Mann and others in the British High Court.
