Lembit Opik’s pitch to the Irish

Lembit Opik makes the Liberal Democrat case to the Irish in Britain in this week’s Irish World. The piece follows a similar one for Labour last week by Cllr Jim Moher, which in turn was inspired by my article Why Labour can’t count on the Irish vote.

The Lib Dems won Brent East, the seat with Britain largest Irish community, from Labour in a by-election in 2003. There’s more background on the by-election and events since at TomGriffin.Info.
