Sir Mark Thatcher has taken the stand in Capetown to answer questions about his link to the Equatorial Guinea coup plotters.
From AFP:
The questions sent by Malabo to Thatcher’s lawyers covered the alleged role of Ely Calil, a London-based Lebanese businessman said to be at the centre of the planned coup in the oil-rich west African country, as well as his close friend Simon Mann, who is in prison in Zimbabwe for masterminding the putsch.
Thatcher admitted to knowing the men but declined to give details about their ties, offering curt answers to the more than 50 questions put to him.
