Straw fears attack on Iran

UK Foreign Secretary Jack Straw was in the US today for talks with incoming Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice.

This Sunday Times report ahead of the visit suggests Britain is increasingly worried about the possibility of a US attack on Iran.

The British public would certainly be incredulous at the prospect of another war and Britain is right to seek a peaceful solution.

However, if a conflict happens the British Government will nevertheless bear some of the responsibility.

Wars generate more wars, as the history of the Middle East (and indeed Europe) shows. A confrontation with Iran was always a possible result of the instability generated by the invasion of Iraq.
