Is abuse worse than murder?

Three soldiers were jailed and expelled from the British Army yesterday for abusing prisoners in Iraq.

The Celtic League has written to Armed Forces Secretary Adam Ingram pointing out that two soldiers convicted of the murder of Belfast man Peter McBride were allowed to remain in the Army, and indeed were sent to Iraq.

Update 27th February: The BBC has the statement from Peter McBride’s father.

"(General) Mike Jackson is contradicting himself if he is coming out and making the statement that they let the Army down and all. What about Peter?

"Did them two not let the Army down? I wish he would make a statement on that, I would like to meet him face to face and ask him what’s the difference," he said.

General Jackson as on the Army Board which decided to let Peter McBride’s killers remain in the Army.
